What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is therapy in which a person with mental or emotional problems talks with another person (talking therapies). With successful psychotherapy, a client experiences positive change resolves or mitigates troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions. Ideally, these are replaced with more pleasant and functional alternatives.

Psychotherapy includes interactive processes between a person or group and a psychotherapist. Psychotherapy aims to increase the individual's sense of his/her own well-being. Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient or to improve group relationships (such as in a family).

Is everything I tell you confidential?

Yes, everything you tell your therapist is treated as strictly confidential. The only exception to this is if there is a threat to someone’s safety: either your own or somebody else’s.

Is this for me?

We are using varied methods, tailored by your needs. We have the experience and knowledge to work with everyone, and in every age. Furthermore, we can work with people with disabilities, mental illnesses and people who are interested in personal and professional growth.

Do I need to prepare before my first session?
No. During the first session, your therapist will ask questions in order to understand what has prompted you to seek counselling or psychotherapy at this time. You do not need to do any special preparation for this.
Do I still need to pay if I cancel my appointment?
We have a cancellation policy that requires payment if less than 48-24 hours' notice is given.
We try to be flexible for genuine emergencies but we do need to protect our time as well.
